Coverage from Scotstoun Stadium as reigning champions Glasgow Warriors host Irish side Connacht in week two of the new Guinness Pro 12 campaign.

After making history by becoming the first Scottish club side to lift a major trophy when they beat Munster 31-13 in last season's grand final in Belfast, Glasgow go into this game knowing that the rest of the teams in the Guinness Pro 12 have a greater incentive to beat them this year. The Warriors will be determined to build on their title victory at Ulster's Kingspan Stadium four months ago by finishing in the play-offs once this season.

With the rugby World Cup looming and more than 20 of their squad away on international duty, the champions will want a strong start to their title defence. Those intentions were further outlined in the summer when they brought in Connacht's highly regarded forwards coach Dan McFarland to work alongside Gregor Townsend.

Connacht were unlucky not to finish in last season's top six after a strong campaign. With relatively few changes made for this season, they will be hoping that consistency of squad and performance can see them achieve that lucrative target this year. Head coach Pat Lam will be hoping to turn around the Galway side's poor record in Glasgow where they have won only once since 2003, and where they lost 39-21 in a highly entertaining match last year.
