Derrylin: The Place And The People

He had an idea to write a book about the place he was born, grew up and lived in all his life but sadly he passed away before the book was completed - so it fell to two other Fermanagh men to finish the job. And one of them is Brian Gallagher who talks to Anne Marie about the book. 聽

Drumalis House

Drumalis House

Tucked away in its own grounds in Larne is this magnificent and yet largely unknown Drumalis House. It looks over the Irish Channel, Islandmagee, Larne Lough, Maghermourne, the Scottish Coast and the high lands of Kilwaughters. It鈥檚 thought of as a special, even a blessed place for as long as there are records about it. Drumalis House was built in the 19th century by industrialist and philanthropist, Sir Hugh Smiley as a family home, but by the middle of the twentieth century, the sisters of the Cross and Passion order were running it as a retreat centre. Marie McStay met Sisters Anna and Margaret Rose who know the history of the house that's their home, very well.
