The Fight for Survival
A look back at the 1980s. Spotlighting the efforts of those who struggled to save the heritage of Wales following a painful industrial decline.
This is the powerful story of the struggle to save the heritage of Wales. In the 80s, the country was inspired by men and women who followed their dreams. Sharon Morgan became one of the stars of the new S4C, world champion surfer Linda Sharp helped clean up the Welsh coastline with the Surfers Against Sewage campaign, Richard Keen saved industrial relics like Blaenavon and turned them into world heritage sites, and Mike Peters and the Alarm helped bring the country together by releasing their albums in both English and Welsh. All these and others helped Wales overcome a painful industrial decline and face the future with confidence and pride.
