Yeldall Manor

David Grant meets residents at a residential rehabilitation centre in Berkshire听 who are turning to God in their mission to recover from all consuming addictions to drink and drugs.

Through its Christian ethos and strict regime, staff at Yeldall Manor have been helping addicts kick their habits for nearly 40 years.

David talks to Chris Wood, who started drinking at the age of just 13 and had been a chronic alcoholic for 25 years before he arrived at Yeldall Manor.听 Eight years after staff at the centre helped him beat his addiction, he now works with residents to rebuild their lives.

David also meets 35 year old former chef Tom who, six months into his rehab programme, reveals how his newly-found Christian faith is helping him to remain alcohol-free.

Presenter, Radzi Chinyanganya, heads to Staines to meet businessman Gary Grant.听 Gary is the owner of The Entertainer toy stores and is also a Christian.听 Due to his faith,听 Gary has always refused to open his stores on a Sunday, even when times have been tough.

Radzi speaks to Gary to hear how he became a Christian and to learn how his faith has impacted on his business and the decisions he has had to make.

Robert Burns

Scotland鈥檚 cherished poet, Robert Burns, grew up in poverty and was educated at home by his hard-working father William.听 Burns scholar Gerard Carruthers is enraptured by a small booklet which William painstakingly wrote by hand as a religious guide for his family. The steadfast faith of Robert鈥檚 upbringing is reflected in his poem 鈥楾he Cotter鈥檚 Saturday Night鈥�, recited by life-long Burns admirer Hugh Farrell.
