A place in the quarter-finals was the target for the teams competing in today's matches.
Cup holders Inverness Caledonian Thistle faced a tricky away game at Motherwell in one of two all-Premiership ties. The other saw Dundee United host Partick Thistle.
Rangers were aiming to oust Premiership side Kilmarnock from the cup for the second year running at Ibrox, while junior club Linlithgow Rose were looking to cause an upset at Ross County.
League Two Annan Athletic were hoping to follow their fourth-round giant-killing against Hamilton with victory at home to Morton, while Championship side Dumbarton hosted Dundee.
