Featuring writer and journalist Peter Vacher who talks about the R&B and jazz roots of Los Angeles as portrayed in his latest book, Swingin' On Central Avenue. Written over a period of years, Peter traveled between Los Angeles and London to track down key figures and interview them for this unique history of one of the most vibrant melting pots of jazz and blues witnessed in post war America. Peter recalls his meetings with musicians such as trumpeters Andy Blakeney and George Orendorff, pianist Betty Hall Jones, saxophonists Chuck Thomas and Caughey Roberts Jr. as they recall their work with artists including Joe Liggins, T-Bone Walker, Lightnin' Hopkins, Louis Jordan and Nellie Lutcher.
