O'Connor Family

Mum Vicky O'Connor believed Australia's climate could improve her health. Did a trial week in Adelaide persuade her family to make the move?

An updated look at families previously featured on Wanted Down Under.

In 2014, after doctors told her that living in a warmer climate than the UK's could improve her ME, Vicky O'Connor and husband Gavin were investigating moving to Australia. However, with none of the family having visited the country before, Gavin feared emigrating was just too big a leap.

A year ago, the O'Connors spent a week in Adelaide to see if Gavin's work and financial concerns could be addressed and if the country could give Vicky her independence back. Twelve months later, is Australia where they now call home?

O'Connor update

The O鈥機onnor family are going from strength to strength in Adelaide. They have enjoyed their first Christmas in the sun, and spent it barbequing and playing in the swimming pool.

The children return to school this month and are looking forward to seeing their friends.

Gavin is still thriving at work and has been offered several other jobs based on word of mouth from within the industry.

Vicky is doing really well. Her health is continuing to improve weekly and is being well looked after by her new doctors and hospital consultants.

The family say life is pretty amazing and the UK genuinely feels like a distant memory now.
