Series featuring a selection from the wealth of Gaelic song and poetry written about the First World War. The series feature specially recorded performances by four of Scotland's finest Gaelic singers - Art Cormack, Linda MacLeod, Murdo MacDonald and Robert Robertson - as well as readings from both songs and poems. Vivid descriptions from the battlefield, heartfelt expressions of personal loss and political opinion are reflected in the series.

The third episode looks at how the poets handled the great loss of life during the war, both at sea and in the trenches. The songs reflect a range of perspectives: the mother mourning her son, the widow's grief over the loss of her husband and a soldier's first-hand account of the bloodshed on the battlefield.
