Nashville: The Record Producers
Ricky Ross visits Nashville to hear the stories and history of the home of country music and talk to some of the most successful record producers in Music City.
Ricky is in Nashville discovering the stories and history from the home of Country Music. Tonight he talks to some of the most successful record producers in Music City.
We're in Buddy Miller's home studio where sessions with Solomon Burke, Richard Thompson and Shawn Colvin & Steve Earle have taken place. Buddy describes his current role as Executive Music Producer for the TV series Nashville.
Dave Cobb is one of the most in demand new record producers with successful albums by Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton and Sturgill Simpson. He's recently taken over the lease of RCA Studio A and gives Ricky a tour of this historical recording space where Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and the Beach Boys all once made records. Dave talks about some of his recent projects and shares his love of country music.
Owen Bradley was one of the most important record producers in the history of country music. After developing the Nashville sound, he was responsible for the success of Patsy Cline, Brenda Lee and Loretta Lynn. Tonight Ricky meets Owen's daughter, Patsy, and son, Jerry, who describe their father's legacy and share some personal insights. Owen's brother, Harold, is the most recorded session player in American music history and part of The Nashville 'A' Team musician collective. He describes being in the studio with Owen Bradley and performing on the recording session for Patsy Cline's hit song Crazy.
