What is the significance of Ramadan?
If the sun happens to be shining, the long days of summer can be a great treat.
For Muslims, however, they can be one of the stiffest tests of their faith.聽 We鈥檙e in the first week of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month in which fasting begins at dawn and doesn鈥檛 end until sunset: for those in聽Wales that means up to聽19 hours without food or water. All Things Considered asks, what鈥檚 the significance of Ramadan?聽聽 How does it make a difference to people鈥檚 faith, and the way they live?聽 Millions take part so what can their observance teach those of us who are not Muslims?

TAHA IDRIS, chief executive of Swansea Bay Racial Equality Council;
Dr SADEK HAMID from Liverpool Hope University, who specialises in contemporary Islamic studies and has a particular interest in the way young people relate to their faith.
RIFFAT ASLAM is a teacher who recently moved back to Wales with her family after a period living in Shanghai, and AMANDA MORRIS a university lecturer who, a Canadian by birth,聽converted to Islam about 20 years ago.聽聽
