Black Dyke's 160th Anniversary Concert
Frank Renton features and plays in the Black Dyke Band's celebratory 160th anniversary concert with conductors Nicholas Childs and Derek Broadbent.
Frank Renton features, and plays in, the Black Dyke Band's 160th Anniversary concert with conductors Derek Broadbent and Nicholas Childs. With 82 past and present members crowding the stage it was an ideal time to look back with affection at some notable events in the band history, like their collaboration with the Beatles. We hear a trio of stars, the legendary cornet player Jim Shepherd, the band's current solo cornet Richard Marshall and previous solo cornet Jim Baker who combine in a performance of Trumpets Wild and we hear the first performance of Symphony in Scarlet and Gold specially written for the concert by Peter Graham.
