Prof. Karen Holford

Earlier this year Professor Karen Holford was named among the UK鈥檚 Top 50 Women in Engineering in a list compiled by the Daily Telegraph. We鈥檝e featured听her remarkable work on Science Caf茅 before, so this seemed the perfect excuse to pay her a visit and get an update.听

Karen is Pro Vice Chancellor for Physical Sciences and Engineering at Cardiff University and听she works in acoustic engineering research. This pioneering technology has greatly improved the safety monitoring of bridges, including the Oakland Bay Bridge near San听Francisco. The team in Cardiff now hope to extend this technology to a new generation of aircraft.听

Adam meets Karen to talk about her career and research and to see for himself her department's work.
