Scummy Mummies, HRT, Ballerina Irina Kolesnikova
The Scummy Mummies on finding humour in the messiness of motherhood, new research on HRT and breast cancer, and Irina Kolesnikova, principal dancer of the St Petersburg Ballet.
Scummy Mummies. As a new film called Bad Moms opens in cinemas, Helen Thorn and Ellie Gibson from the Scummy Mummies podcast join us to describe how they find humour in the messiness of motherhood. They share the things they find particularly hilarious, and admit the truth behind their 'warts and all' jokes and confessions.
Plus, HRT. New research conducted by the Institute of Cancer Research and Breast Cancer Now claims Hormone Replacement Therapy can triple the risk of breast cancer. So what are the facts when it comes to taking HRT? And how does this new research differ from previous surveys? Sarah Williams of Cancer Research UK and Katherine Woods of Breast Cancer Now join Jenni to discuss.
Irina Kolesnikova, the Russian principal dancer of the St Petersburg Ballet Theatre. She describes playing the role of Carmen in a new take on Georges Bizet's classic opera, set in a refugee camp on the outskirts of Europe.
The author Elizabeth Goudge: her books sold millions, and JK Rowling describes The Little White Horse as a favourite and a direct influence on the Harry Potter series. Goudge's biographer Christine Rawlins joins us to discuss her life and writing.
And the next in our series of interviews with women who used their creativity to help them through stress or illness. Marion Michell, who has lived with ME and chronic fatigue for the last 17 years, has very limited mobility and is unable to stand, talked to Melissa Viney.
Presenter: Jenni Murray
Producer: Emma Wallace.
