Iles Medallist Russell Gray
Iles Medallist conductor and cornet star Russell Gray talks to Frank Renton about his award.
Recently awarded the Iles Medal for services to the brass band movement, conductor and cornet star Russell Gray looks back over his career so far with Frank Renton. He recalls the big move 'south of the border' from his home in Scotland, his first appearance in the Black Dyke rehearsal room and he remembers his inaugural concert with The Stavanger Brass Band, with an audience that included the King and Queen of Norway and a sizeable number of that country's wealthy oil industry, so no pressure there then!
