On the Grass When I Arrive
This week for Your Place and Mine, Anne Marie met Leon Litvack at Groomsport on the each coast of County Down – the setting for one piece in a new anthology On the Grass When I Arrive.
Catherine O'Hare
Catherine O'Hare was only 16 when she left her home to work as a maid in America. But more than that, she was also the first European woman to
enter British Columbia overland from Canada in the nineteenth century. This week, members of her community in Canada made their way to Co.Down, to see the birthplace of this legendary lady.
Elisabeth's Magic Flute
Last week we promised there'd be a story about a magic flute - and while it may not perform wizardry, it was kind of magic the way Elisabeth Gell, from Germany found this instrument in Ireland.
Remembering Arthur Frigg
This week we heard the sad news that Arthur Frigg had died at the age of 97. He spoke to Your Place and Mine back in February, talking about his remarkable life - he was born in London, stationed in Singapore in 1941 when it was captured by the Japanese, and forced to work on the Burma Railway. This week, we remember Arthur with a piece from the man himself.
