Adam Walton meets Professor Cynthia Burek, the first Professor of Geoconservation, and hears about her passion for geodiversity, and promoting women in science.

Cynthia recently represented Geo Mon, wihch recognises Anglesey's rich geoological heritage, at the first ever international UNESCO geoparks event.听

Her long and varied career has included working in the United States, lecturing with the Open University in Wales, and, currently working in the University of Chester where she teaches a variety of courses.

This week she joins the "Trowel Blazers" which encourages the participation of women, and under represented groups, in archaeological, geological and palaeontological science. Cynthia will be photographed dressed as the first female professor of geology Catherine Raisin in Edwardian dress and holding the tools she would have used in the field.
