Virtual Reality
Adam Walton visits the Thornton Science Park, part of the University of Chester, to try out some of the latest virtual reality "VR" headsets, and find out how they are being used for medical research.
Adam chats to Professor Nigel John, who has been working with VR for many years, and recently has been using the HTC Vive and Microsoft HoloLens head-mounted displays as part of his research into virtual models for medical students. The Vive is a now widely available VR headset, and the HoloLens uses mixed, or "augmented" reality. PhD student Thomas Day also explains his research into using the technology to help users of powered wheelchairs.
We also hear from Richard Hebblewhite at Wrexham Glyndwr University, about using VR in game development and as an aid to practical real world problems, such as the aquaphobia experience.
