Around 7,000 households in Northern Ireland will face higher rates bills under a proposal from the finance minister M谩irt铆n 脫 Muilleoir. The proposal would see the most valuable properties in Northern Ireland getting charged higher rates. The minister said it forms part of "the biggest shake-up in rating policy in a generation". Currently, if a house has a rateable value above 拢400,000 its rates bill is assessed as though it is valued at 拢400,000. The minister is proposing to change the system so that rates are now levied on the portion above 拢400,000. That would raise around 拢4.5M for the Executive. Vinny spoke to M谩irt铆n 脫 Muilleoir and DUP MLA Emma Little Pengelly - Committee Chair Committee for Finance.
Also on the programme, should there be a special pension for those severely injured through "no fault of their own" during the Troubles? That's the call from the Wave Trauma Centre who are urging politicians and church leaders to back their proposal.
And, how do you feel about men crying? If you have been watching the I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here you will have seen quite a few tears.
