Jazz at a Tangent and Sensational Americans in Manchester

Volume 8 of Jazz at a Tangent features the New Orleans-style bands. In Manchester in 1957, Jack Teagarden and Earl Hines led an all-star band of huge proportions.

Jazz at a Tangent is a series by Lake Records featuring the best of British traditional jazz. Volume 8 focuses on the New Orleans-style bands, among them Phil Dyer's New Orleans Band and Keith Smith's Climax Band. In 1957 Jack Teagarden and Earl Hines co-led an all-star band along with Max Kaminsky, Peanuts Hucko, Jack Lesburg and Cozy Cole. They raised the roof of the Manchester Free Trade Hall and Upbeat have now released this historic concert on CD.
