With The Skatalites

Mary Anne Hobbs is joined by Ken Stewart of The Skatalites for a Three Minute Epiphany on why ska is the greatest genre of them all!

Mary Anne is joined by Ken Stewart of The Skatalites for an epiphany of why ska is the greatest genre of them all!

The Skatalites began performing in 1964 and, with their first LP 'Ska Authentic', toured Jamaica as "the creators of ska". In the years that followed, they worked with producers including Prince Buster, and played with numerous high-profile artists including Desmond Dekker, The Wailers, and Lee 'Scratch' Perry.

In 1983, after a twenty year hiatus, they reformed, and have been touring and recording ever since. Their most recent release 'Platinum Ska' dropped in 2016.

To celebrate their longevity, Mary Anne is extending Steve Lamacq's Ska Christmas Party by playing some of her favourite tunes to skank to. If you've got a favourite, send it in!
