In a programme marking fifty years since the 1967 Abortion Act we talk to Dilys Cossey and Diane Munday about why they campaigned to make abortion safe, free and accessible. We hear a 1964 interview from the Woman's Hour archive with a woman from Newcastle who had a back street abortion. Fiorella Nash, from the Society for the Protection of the Unborn Child explains how their campaigning has changed over the last 50 years. We discuss current challenges to the law in the UK, and assess access to abortion around the world with Manuelle Hurwitz from the International Planned Parenthood Federation.
