Beginning in America the programme explores the role of the clarinet in jazz as performed by George Lewis, Evan Christopher, Kenny Davern, Bob Wilber,and Irving Fazola, and of the spread across the world through the work of players like Wally Fawkes, Alan Barnes, Antti Sarpila, Claude Lute, and many others including the venerable Sidney Bechet.
