Alexis Taylor and Green Gartside

Stuart Maconie presents solo and is joined by Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip and Green Gartside of Scritti Politti.

Stuart presents the show solo today, joined by Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip) and Green Gartside (Scritti Politti). Alexis - frontman of electro-pop hitmeisters Hot Chip - recorded an album 'Piano' last year, and has since commissioned 11 of his musical pals to each record a companion piece to this album - called 'Listen With(out) Piano). The 11 new tracks can each be played on their own - OR at the same time as the original album to create a musical blend! Green Gartside is one of those musicians who's written a track. Cardiff-born Green formed post-punk Scritti Politti in 1977 with fellow art students from Leeds Polytechnic, and was well known for their 1988 hit 'Oh Patti'. After retiring from the limelight of the music industry, he came back in in 1999 with a new album, Anomie and Bonhomie and White Bread, Black Beer in 2006. He since returned to touring with Scritti Politti and is here with Alexis to talk all about their new collaboration.

And if that wasn't enough, there's the trusty show staple The Chain - where you, the actual listener, get the chance to link one track to the one before - and Teatime Themetime, for all your huddle-round-the-wireless-radio-quiz needs.
