Rutland Family

Julie was longing to make Australia her home. A trial week in Perth helped to win over her husband Dan, so one year on, have they made the move?

In 2015 Julie was longing to make Australia her home, having first fallen for the country in her youth. Married with three children, she believed the time to move had finally arrived - and to prove it, she had already secured the family a visa to emigrate. With husband Dan having developed a serious case of cold feet, a trial week in Perth turned out to be just what was needed to allay his fears about walking away from a career he had worked hard to establish and saying goodbye to his much-loved dad in the UK.

So one year on, have the Rutland family made it down under or decided to stay put in the UK?

Rutland Family Update

The Rutland family are still loving life in Perth, the kids have just started back at school and Julie has just started her first teaching job having completed her year at University. They had found surviving on one wage quite tough so are looking forward to being more financially secure this year – and Julie loves her new job!

Julie new job means it’s possible for Dan to look at starting up on his own which he is very excited about and the family have plans to buy a house towards the end of the year.

The family are making the most of the Australian weather and have bought a boat! They have enjoyed going out on lots of river trips, fishing and exploring over the summer and are looking forward to a visit from Julie’s sisters next month.
