#ChuckBerry6Music - a playlist reflecting the life, music and influence of Chuck Berry

Tom Robinson curates a Chuck Berry-inspired playlist based on listener suggestions to mark the death of the rock 'n' roll pioneer.

Chuck Berry died on Saturday at the age of 90. The hugely influential artist had many admirers as you can imagine, and they reacted to the news:

US singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen said he was "the greatest pure rock 'n' roll writer who ever lived".

Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones said Berry "lit up our teenage years, and blew life into our dreams of being musicians and performers".

Alice Cooper - "all of us in rock have now lost our father".

The guitarist and songwriter died in the US state of Missouri after a seven-decade career. Seen as one of the fathers of rock 'n' roll, he influenced generations of succeeding musicians, most notably The Beatles, the Rolling Stones and the Beach Boys.

With lyrics successfully aimed to appeal to the early teenage market by using graphic and humorous descriptions of teen dances, fast cars, high school life, and consumer culture, and utilising guitar solos and showmanship that would be a major influence on subsequent rock music.

Now Playing celebrate the father of rock and roll in the way we do by playing loads of his own music but also music by people that were influenced by him and also those that influenced him, to create a 2 hour playlist that reflects Chuck Berry.
