Overseas teams competing in the 127th edition of the tournament at the picturesque Greenyards include Harlequins, Western Province from South Africa and the Swedish national side.
Clubs from the Borders will be keen to emulate Melrose's famous achievement in 2011 by lifting the Ladies Centenary Cup, and will be encouraged by Jed-Forest's run to the 2016 final when they were beaten by Edinburgh Rugby.
