Heard of the concept of downshifting? It might sound vaguely familiar; perhaps to do with a bit of decluttering and downsizing. But it's much more radical than that. It's a shift to a lower pace; you turn down the consumerist urge and turn onto the green economy. Richard is joined by Mike Small, founder of the Fife Diet, and Quaker and writer Alastair McIntosh.

The use of genetic testing to discover more about ourselves has grown in the last decade. But how well-prepared are we to deal with this new information about ourselves? Richard talks to Dr Sarah Chan, Chancellor's Fellow in Bioethics at the University of Edinburgh; and Dr Lorraine Cowley, Principal Genetics Counsellor at Newcastle University to discuss some of the ethical questions raised by the rapid growth in genetic testing.

Ahead of an appearance at the Scottish Poetry Library this week, Shara McCallum discusses her latest collection of poems, 'Madwoman', an exploration of some of the different stages of a female life - from a young child in the beginning of the collection through to a middle aged woman at the end.

Sunday Morning Reporter, Pauline Moore, has been in the State of Virginia in the run up to the landmark first hundred days of Donald Trump's presidency. She visited the city of Harrisonburg, an official resettlement centre for refugees, and in large part influenced by its Mennonite tradition.

For some adversity breeds fear and panic - but for others it's a great motivator. Age 23 Luke Robertson was told he'd need a pacemaker, and when he then needed a brain operation three months before he was due to walk to the south pole it didn't stop him achieving his dream. He joins Richard to talk about his latest adventure, travelling by human power alone from the south to the north of Alaska.
