Max Reinhardt with Midori Takada's Mixtape

Max Reinhardt presents a special mixtape by Japanese composer and percussionist Midori Takada. Plus new work by Howard Skempton and a Ravi Shankar/Philip Glass collaboration.

Tonight, the latest in our series of mixtapes, where we invite a musician to delve into the depths of their record collection. Stepping into the breach this time is Japanese composer and percussionist Midori Takada.

And Max's sonic explorations feature a new chamber setting by British composer Howard Skempton of Coleridge's poem The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Also on the menu, sounds of Turkey ancient and modern as folk music and comedy blockbuster lyrics combine; and a collaborative recording between Ravi Shankar and Philip Glass ahead of its live Proms performance later in the summer.

Produced by Chris Elcombe for Reduced Listening.
