Leasú ar Acht na dTeangacha Oifigiúla, Croitheadh Láimhe agus Aidan O'Shea
Leasú ar Acht na dTeangacha Oifigiúla, Croitheadh Láimhe agus Aidan O'Shea. Official Languages Act 2003, shaking hands and uproar over Aidan O'Shea taking selfies.
Labhraíonn na hiriseoirí Cathal Mac Coille, Ciarán Ó Pronntaigh agus Áine Ní Bhreisleáin faoin dóigh a ghlac an rialtas ó dheas leis na ceannteidil chun leasú a dhéanamh ar Acht na dTeangacha Oifigiúla. Pléitear fosta an caitheamh anuas atá Aidan O' Shea, imreoir sinsearach le Contae Mhaigh Eo CLG, ag fáil faoi selfies a thógáil tar éis cluiche. Pléitear an scéal tragóideach i bPortland, Oregan i S.A.M. inar sádh agus maraíodh beirt fhear as cosaint a dhéanamh ar bheirt chailíní a bhí ag fáil íde ciníoch. Cluinfimid scéal pearsanta Shiúin Uí Dhuinn agus í ag cosaint cailín óig i nGaillimh. Fuair sí bagairt dá bharr. An ndéanfadh sí cosaint ar dhaoine arís? Fosta, cad é an dóigh is fearr le lámh a chroitheadh agus an iad na fir amháin a úsáideann an croitheadh láimhe lena gcuid cumhachta a thaispeáint?
Journalists Cathal Mac Coille, Ciarán Ó Pronntaigh and Áine Ní Bhreisleáin speak about the legislative changes proposed for the Official Languages Act 2003 in the south. They also discuss the criticism Aidan O'Shea, GAA senior football player for County Mayo, has been receiving for taking selfies after a match. The tragic story which took place in Portland, Oregon, is also discussed in this episode, where two men were stabbed and killed for standing up for two girls who were the targets of racist abuse. Closer to home, we hear a personal story from Siún Ní Dhuinn on how she stood up for two girls who were receiving unwanted attention and was threatened as a result. Would she do it again? Also, what is the best way to shake hands with somebody and is it only men who use the handshake as a power play?
