Scoil BhrÃde - 100 Bliain d'Aois
The history and influence of the first school (outside of the native Irish-speaking regions of the Gaeltacht) to teach subjects solely through Irish, 100 years old in 2017.
Chomhbhunaigh Louise Gavan Duffy Scoil BhrÃde, scoil lán-Ghaeilge, i 1917, in éineacht le Anne McHugh (a phós an polaiteoir Ernest Blythe). Ba à seo an chéad scoil in Éirinn, taobh amuigh den Ghaeltacht, ar éirigh léi córas lán-tumoideachais a thabhairt isteach (gach ábhar á theagasc trà mheán na Gaeilge agus gach cumarsáid idir an fhoireann agus na daltaà trà Ghaeilge fosta) agus ba à an eiseamláir à don iomad Gaelscoil a bunaÃodh ó shin. Céad bliain nÃos moille, tá oidhreacht Lúise Gabhánach Uà Dhufaigh ag bláthú agus tá breis agus 55,000 dalta ag freastal ar Ghaelscoileanna sa lá atá inniu ann. Chun comóradh 100 bliain na chéad Ghaelscoile a cheiliúradh, scrúdaÃonn iardhalta RóisÃn Nà Chéileachair, stair agus tionchar na scoile agus saol an phrÃomhbhunaitheora tarraingtigh. Tagann an ghearrthóg ina bhfuil Lúise Gabhánach Uà Dhufaigh ag caint le caoinchead ó RTÉ Archives.
