Will the New Year breathe fresh life into efforts to restore power-sharing at Stormont? It's almost a year since Northern Ireland had a properly functioning assembly. Both the DUP and Sinn Fein in their New Year statements from their leaders say they want to get back to business and restore the institutions rather than face direct rule. So are we heading for yet more talks and what hope is there of a breakthrough this time? Vinny got the views of Alliance leader Naomi Long and journalist and commentator Malachi O'Doherty.

Also on the programme, campaigners staged a protest calling for an end to foxhunting with dogs in Northern Ireland yesterday. The peaceful demonstration at a hunt in Crawfordsburn, Co Down was supported by members of the Green Party and the Alliance Party. Currently Northern Ireland is the only part of the UK without a ban.
