All Change at Riverford

Ruth Sanderson visits Riverford HQ in Devon, where 55,000 veg box deliveries are coordinated each week, to see why it is moving to employee ownership.

Riverford is known as one of the largest organic veg-box schemes in the country. It's come a long way since owner Guy Watson started supplying veg for local businesses around Buckfastleigh in Devon. It now employs over 600 staff, has a turnover of 拢60million and makes 55 thousand deliveries a week. It has a co-operative of farms supplying produce and partner farms abroad to fill the gaps. Now the owner plans to change the structure to employee-ownership. Ruth Sanderson has been invited to find out why and how the staff feel about it.
