Episode 2
Sara Cox joins eight rural romantics as they begin the journey to find love. Pete and Ed's dates are thrust into farm life and a shock confrontation has dramatic results.
Eight rural dwellers from across the UK enlist the help of farmer's daughter Sara Cox in their quest for love. As Sara knows, if you work on the land, you are often wedded to it, so she will be taking the bull by the horns and going on a mission to find our lonely rural romantics the partner of their dreams.
All eight rurals posted detailed dating profiles online in the hope of attracting letters from urban singles looking to quit the hectic 9 to 5, in favour of a slower pace of life. After carefully considering each letter, dairy farmers 25-year-old Ed from Lancashire and 52-year-old Pete from Yorkshire both invite three of the women that wrote to them back to spend time on their respective farms.
In this second episode we see how the women cope when they are thrown into unfamiliar farm life and have to compete with each other for the attention of their date. Ed invited 25-year-old Rebecca, 29-year-old Lisa and 27-year-old Megan to join him on his farm. With all three women vying for his attention, the path of true love runs far from smooth, and for recently widowed Megan it proves almost too much. Sixth-generation farmer Pete invited 50-year-old Helen, 53-year-old Caroline and 36-year-old Franny to his farm. Having always dreamt of living on a farm, the reality comes as a shock to Franny, and after a confrontation with Pete's friends, she must decide how much she is willing to sacrifice for the chance of love.
This episode also sees 33-year-old farm contractor Paul from Worcestershire, 39-year-old cattle and sheep farmer Richard from Dumfries and Galloway, 52-year-old Mark, a farrier from Norfolk, 59-year-old pig farmer Wendy from Herefordshire and 28-year-old equine vet Heather from Yorkshire meet a selection of the applicants that wrote to them, when they invite them for a series of face to face dates.
With the big decision of whom, if any to invite back to stay with them, Mark finds he is touched by one of his dates, Heather is shocked when one of hers reveals all and Wendy, who divorced 20 years ago, invites three men back to her farm. But when two worlds collide can cupid work his magic and will our eight rural romantics find love in the countryside?
