Claire McCollum and JB Gill celebrate 70 years of the NHS with staff and former patients. Claire visits Trafford General, where the then health secretary Aneurin Bevan launched the National Health Service in 1948. JB Gill joins Tim, who is a chaplain to paramedics, to find out how he supports both the ambulance crews, patients and their relatives. Senior manager Olivia Amartey reflects on the role her Christian faith has played during her 35-year career in the NHS. Medical student Libby Adderley talks about how the NHS support that helped her overcome anorexia made her determined to give back by becoming a doctor.

The first NHS Hospital
Claire McCollum discovers how Trafford General Hospital was used as the launch of the NHS by then Health Secretary Nye Bevan in 1948, and became the first ever NHS hospital. She sees how the hospital today is running and meets 92 year-old stroke patient Verena who remembers life before the NHS.

JB Gill meets Tim Parsons, one of very few volunteer chaplains working with paramedic crews. Tim explains what the role entails and how he relies on his Christian faith to provide the help the crews, and some of the patients, need.

Trainee doctor Libby Adderley tells Claire McCollum about her experience of anorexia as a teenager, and how she overcame it with the help of the NHS and her Christian faith. She is now stepping out in faith to share her story with others in order to raise awareness of eating disorders.
