with the Rev Kate Bottley and Jason Mohammad

The author Cole Moreton tells Kate Bottley and Jason Mohammad what happened to a boy who received a new heart.

When the author Cole Moreton wrote about organ donation through the story of two boys, he highlighted the pain and the joy that comes when one child dies but another lives.

Cole's powerful book, 'The Boy Who Gave His Heart Away' is unique in that it brought together two families who had personal contact after the transplant, something that rarely happens.

But what happened next? Cole joins Kate and Jason to update them and they are joined by Sue and Linda, the mothers of the two boys, who share their feelings and thoughts about the ending to this story.

Our 'Charity Champion' Kieran Sandwell is the recipient of a heart transplant and he is raising funds by walking the entire coast of Britain. Kieran speak to Kate and Jason while he is on his hike and if you know someone who has done something amazing for charity, email gms@bbc.co.uk

Cole Moreton

Cole Moreton
After Cole wrote about the true story of two boys who became linked by one heart, he became dedicated to encouraging people to consider organ donation. ‘The Boy Who Gave His Heart Away’ describes how the death of 16 year old Martin saved the life of 15 year old Marc. Cole tells Kate and Jason how this story changed his mind about organ donation and we also speak to Martin and Marc’s mothers to find out what happened after the transplant.

Paul Kerensa

Paul Kerensa
A regular voice on Pause for Thought on Radio 2, Paul recently had a cornea transplanted into his left eye. The Christian comedian may make the odd joke about the ‘extra bit’ that he now carries but he is keen to remind everyone that, ‘we need to respect the wishes of someone who wanted to be an organ donor because at the moment bereaved families can decline the deceased’s wishes to be a donor.’

Kieran Sandwell

Kieran Sandwell
