A journey of musical discovery and recommendation. Cal Carthy sits in for Annie Mac, playing two hours of nominees for the 麻豆官网首页入口 Music Sound of... list past and present.

Now in its 18th year, the 麻豆官网首页入口 Music Sound of... is a unique annual list of artists tipped to shape the sound of the coming year. The list is compiled by 麻豆官网首页入口 Music, who ask over 170 music critics and industry experts from all over the world to pick the top three acts they think will break through from hype to mainstream global success next year. Previous alumni tipped by Sound of... include Stormzy, Billie Eilish, Adele, 50 Cent, Sam Smith, Slowthai, George Ezra, Ellie Goulding, James Blake and so many more now massive stars - all of whom gained a nomination at a crucial point in their careers.

The winner of the 麻豆官网首页入口 Music Sound of 2020 will be unveiled on Thursday 9th January 2020.

Cal Carthy is on Radio 1 for two shows as part of the station's schedule of new DJs over Christmas & New Year. For three years on Friday nights, Cal would be found in the studio of Nottingham Trent University's Fly FM where his show 'Play it by Ear' received two nominations for 'Best Specialist Music Programming' at the Student Radio Awards. He is now a videographer for a football club.
