Ramsay travels to the Orkney Islands for the ultimate holiday in Scotland. Ramsay a鈥 dol gu eileanan Arcaibh airson na saor-l脿ithean is fhe脿rr a ch貌rd ris fhathast.
Ramsay MacMahon鈥檚 motto in life is to work hard and play hard. It鈥檚 with this in mind that he always has something planned to look forward to at the weekend.
In this programme, Ramsay heads north to the Orkney Islands where he has a busy few days getting to know this archipelago of scenic fertile islands and turquoise blue waters.
He learns about warfare on Orkney during WW1 and kayaks out through crystal clear water to see one of the boats sunk deliberately to block the route for German U-boats into Scapa Flow, the UK鈥檚 naval base during the war.
Ramsay discovers the history of WW2 in Orkney as well through a visit to the Italian chapel. A former Nissan hut, it was transformed by Italian prisoners of war who, with no place of worship, carefully hand-painted the interior of the hut and turned it into a spectacular work of art.
Tha Ramsay MacMahon den bheachd gum bu ch貌ir dhut gabhail ri d鈥 obair agus do chur-seachad le de貌in is spionnadh: mar sin n矛 e cinnteach an c貌mhnaidh gu bheil deireadh sheachdain tarraingeach roimhe.
An-diugh tha e dol suas gu eileanan Arcaibh - torach, b貌idheach air druim a鈥 chuain 鈥 agus d脿 latha son e貌las a chuir orra.
Tha e a鈥 cluinntinn mu shuidheachadh Arcaibh aig 脿m a鈥 chiad Chogaidh Mh貌ir, agus a鈥 gabhail a-mach le kayak a choimhead mar a chaidh soithichean a chuir chun a鈥 ghrunnd gus b脿taichean-aigeann Gearmailteach a chumail a-mach 脿 Scapa Flow.
Tha comharran an dara cogaidh cuideachd ann, leithid a鈥 cheapall Eadailteach. Bha na pr矛osanaich-cogaidh Eadailteach, gun eaglais no taigh-adhraidh, mar sin chur iad romhpa seann seada Nissan a鈥 sgeadachadh gu am miann. Pheant iad gu br猫agha is gu c霉ramach an taobh a-staigh gu bhi na leug 脿lainn ealain.
