For the great nonagenarian conductor Herbert Blomstedt, conducting 鈥渋s a good profession to grow old in, because it鈥檚 always a challenge, and you need challenges when you get older.鈥� And in this concert, he continues his longstanding collaboration with the magnificent Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in a programme full of challenges. With Mozart, as Blomstedt says, 鈥測ou have to articulate very precisely and can鈥檛 rely on power and impact.鈥�
