Episode 4

Can keeper Ian finally get the hippo photo he has been waiting for? Keeper Rachel hatches a plan to foil a mischievous wolf, and a troop of colobus monkeys move onto Gorilla Island.

This episode is all about escape artists and dangerous beasts.

The park is home to two hippos, who live in the famous half-mile lake. For nearly 40 years, Animal Park legend Ian Turner has tried to get a photo of them wallowing in the mud. But hippos are Africa’s most dangerous animal, and Spot and Sonia are no different. Everything is at stake, so will Ian get the shot to die for?

Just across the water, there is a new species about to take centre stage and steal the limelight at the centre of half-mile lake. A troop of colobus monkeys are moving onto the island. With memories of its previous inhabitant, Nico the legendary silverback gorilla, still fresh, it is not long before the new arrivals get the keepers on the back foot. Will these cheeky monkeys make a bid for freedom across the hippo-infested waters?

Down in Animal Adventure, Jean Johansson is facing a giant creepy crawly of the indestructible variety – but how will she cope when she has to handle it?

Meanwhile up in the safari, keeper Rachel is locked in a battle of wills with Dave the Canadian timber wolf. At 3pm every day, he attempts a bid for freedom from wolf wood. But will Dave be outwitted as Rachel tries to identify a canine kryptonite to keep him away from the gates?
