Cardiff and Exeter

The team create two gardens to go with new extensions. In Exeter, they build an Ibiza-style space, and in Cardiff, a building site is turned into a family garden.

This episode sees the team in Cardiff and Exeter creating two gardens to complement new extensions.

In the Welsh capital, Charlie Dimmock and the Rich brothers have to tackle a space that is less a garden than a building site as a result of the owners’ recent extensive home refurbishment. While Nadine and Steven may have created the perfect forever home for their young family, they are dismayed by the resulting state of their back yard. It’s not suitable or safe for their children to play in, and it’s too embarrassing for Steve to invite friends around to sample one of his much-loved barbecues. With a £5,000 budget and a brief to create a garden with a mini play park, it’s going to take all the energy and know-how of the three designers and their trusty landscape team to renovate this muddy bombsite.

Meanwhile, Steve and Alice in Exeter have a budget of £2,500 and want a finished garden that will do justice to their new kitchen extension that spills outside through large bi-fold doors. They are after an Ibiza-flavoured outdoor space, inspired by Alice’s past living abroad, but the garden has to also work as a family space that entertains their two young children. When all the work is done, and Steve and Alice, and Nadine and Steven get to see the dramatic reveal of their gardens, will they think their money and all the team’s hard work has been worth it?
