Bake Off winner David Atherton

Reverend Kate Bottley and Jason Mohammad talk about kids and cooking as they meet Bake Off winner David Atherton who has just published 'My First Cook Book' for children.

Reverend Kate Bottley and Jason Mohammad present uplifting stories about life, love and modern spirituality, alongside a great soundtrack for your Sunday morning.

This morning their guest is David Atherton, the baker and health advisor who won the Great British Bake Off 2019. David has just published 'My First Cook Book', a collection of recipes for children. He tells Kate and Jason why he wants kids to get inspired about food, and how to make good nutrition a healthy habit. Plus how his family fuelled his love of food and baking, growing up in an evangelical Christian household and what winning Bake Off has meant to him.

Plus Uju Asika, a parenting and culture blogger talks about how to talk about race and racism with children, following her new book 'Bringing Up Race: How To Raise a Kind Child in a Prejudiced World'. Uju shares her own experiences as a Mum in a black multicultural family growing up in a majority white country, and shares resources for age-appropriate ways to discuss race, ethnicity and prejudice with children and young people. Plus how to entertain young children as life becomes more restricted.
