Episode 28 of 30

Four new sellers arrive with everything from a penny farthing bike to a block of silver. So will the dealers bid, and will the sellers get the prices they鈥檙e after?

Nigel Havers welcomes four more sellers to the Bidding Room, where they try to sell items to five professional dealers who are on the lookout for interesting pieces, with help from expert Simon Bower.

First in today is Chris, who was given a carved wooden statue when refurbishing his friend鈥檚 barn. Simon believes the statue, with a human torso and a bird-like head, is of the Buddhist deity Karura and, having lived in India for a year, Nigel is very taken with this piece of religious iconography.

Next in is Kris, with a piece of metal she hopes will prove to be very precious. It鈥檚 a piece of solid silver that her neighbour found under her sink.

The third seller hoping to strike a deal is Dean from Sheffield. He has brought in a vintage kids' penny farthing bicycle. Dean, who is also Mr Vintage UK 2019, bought the bike for his youngest daughter, who quickly went off this new pursuit following a close encounter with a wheelie bin. The item is certainly fun, but can Dean turn the penny farthing into pounds?

Last to arrive is James from Yorkshire, with a piece that evokes the region鈥檚 industrial past. He is the proud owner of a wooden writing slope owned by Sir William Henry Aykroyd, who was appointed High Sheriff of Yorkshire in 1926. The piece is steeped in history, but if the dealers don鈥檛 offer James the price he thinks it鈥檚 worth, he won鈥檛 sell.
