Fiona Talkington introduces the second programme this week exploring the work of the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú National Orchestra of Wales in recordings made in Cardiff and Bangor, On the bill today is a substantial concerto for sitar which combines North Indian classical raag and taal with western orchestral traditions and a work for cello and ensemble inspired variously by the ‘cello suites of Bach and Britten and a world, "where ‘stars’ can be born overnight with the help of stylists and Saturday night telly. Two works by Sir James MacMillan showcase both the orchestra and the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú National Chorus of Wales. Also today, a performance of Mahler's Rückert Lieder from January of last year by former Cardiff Singer of the World and Radio 3 New Generation Artist, Catriona Morison, a voice in a million.
