At Home with Tenzin Choegyal

Episode 12 of 20

Conversation and solo performances by songwriters living away from home. For this episode, Verity Sharp dials up Brisbane to hear from Tibetan musician Tenzin Choegyal.

As the year prepares to turn, Verity Sharp dials up singer songwriters who aren鈥檛 living in their country of birth. Are they more mindful of their roots at this time of year? Has the pandemic made them feel closer or further away from home? Or is music all they need to help keep them connected?

Fleeing Tibet, Tenzin Choegyal鈥檚 parents carried him across the mountains as a child. His homeland has been kept alive for him through the hearing and playing of his country鈥檚 traditional music. From his current home in Australia, he recalls the powerful, nomadic songs of his mother and suggests how smiling might just be the thing that saves us all.
