Green-fingered Murdo Macdonald visits some of the country鈥檚 most important gardens to explore their design, plant-life, setting and history.

Murdo goes to 'The Impossible Garden', Inverewe, on the coast of Wester Ross near Poolewe. He finds out how the unique climate impacts on the plants they are able to grow, including rare Wollemi Pines and insect-eating plants in the Savage Garden. He鈥檒l also find out more about the history of the garden from those who work there now.

Roddy Maclean explains what lichen is and what it tells us about the environment, and Dr Mark Newman of The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh tell us more about insectivorous plants.
