Day 12: Red Button - Athletics & Sports Climbing

The athletics continues, plus Shauna Coxsey in the climbing, beach volleyball and hockey.

Medals will be awarded in the hammer throw, which includes GB's Nick Miller. The competition is bound to be tight and could see a series of 80m plus thows decide the medals. Poland's Wojciech Nowicki and Norway's Eivind Henriksen will be tough to beat.

Katarina Johnson-Thompson goes in the heptathlon 200m heats after a solid start to the competition, she is comfortable inside the top ten going into the sprint and will be looking to close in on the leader, Nafissatou Thiam of Belgium.

The decathlon competition also continues with the high jump and 400m heats, plus the men's 800m final and women's 3000m steeplechase finals will see hotly contested medal positions.

India and Argentina play in the women's hockey semi-final, with the winner meeting either the Netherlands of GB in the gold medal match and the loser playing the other for bronze. World number three side Argentina are favorites but India did beat world number two side Australia in the quarter-finals to make it to the semis.

German duo Julius Thole and Clemens Wickler take on Viacheslav Krasilnikov and Oleg Stoyanovskiy of the Russian Olympic Committee in the men's beach volleyball quarter-finals. The Russian pair are ranked two in the world and will go into this tie as favorites, the winners will play either Ahmed Tijan and Cherif Younousse of Qatar or Daniele Lupo and Paolo Nicolai of Italy in the semi-finals.

Shauna Coxsey looks to qualify for the combined final, with the lead event up last in the sports climbing. The event, in it's first Olympics, has captured the eye of many viewers. Consisting of three disciplines, which combine speed, skill and forward thinking, the sports climbing pits athletes against each other in the grueling event. The top eight qualify for the final.
