To celebrate Black History Month, Brenda Edwards is in Brixton, south London, to hear how people of Caribbean and African descent have shaped the life and faith of the UK.

Brenda visits an exhibition of the National Caribbean Heritage Museum with artefacts first brought over by the Windrush Generation that have now become collectors’ items, and she chats to curator Catherine Ross about the importance of faith and worship to those first individuals and families coming from the Caribbean.

We hear how one entrepreneur is honouring black history and heritage with commemorative plaques around London, and Brenda explores the 40-year history of the newspaper The Voice, chatting to the writer whose column on the black church community ran for 30 years.

Sean Fletcher visits Northampton to discover the remarkable story of footballer Walter Tull. He explores how Walter’s life was shaped by Christian faith and how his achievements on the football field were matched by his bravery on the battlefield.

And there’s a rich mix of music celebrating different traditions, with a special performance by Brenda herself.
