Ramsay MacMahon is again in search of adventure at the weekends and for him the possibilities are endless in Scotland. He explores Argyll by bike, starting his journey at the Crinan basin. It’s here that the famous Crinan canal, the UK’s most beautiful shortcut, empties into the Sound of Jura. Ramsay helps out at the boatyard before following the canal by bike.

Turning off the canal he heads to Knapdale to find out about Argyll’s newest arrivals - beavers. Once extinct, these river-dwellers are now thriving again and Ramsay visits one of their lodges with an expert.

From the canal, it’s inland to Kilmartin Glen where Ramsay visits the ancient fortress of Dunadd before heading to the finish line at the ancient burial cairns further up the glen. Nowhere else in Scotland is said to have such a concentration of Neolithic remains.
