Openly gay and unapologetically femme-presenting from their teenage years, Sylvester was all about high fashion and drama.

In their success as a flamboyant black performer they paved the way for other gender-rebelling pop stars of colour, from Prince and Grace Jones to Jaden Smith and Janelle Mon谩e.

Their album Living Proof was a double record set - featuring live material recorded at the War Memorial Opera House in San Francisco on March 11th, 1979.
