Baritone Peter Brathwaite with profound and joyful sounds
Baritone Peter Brathwaite opens up a colourful selection of music from the inside - revealing familiar and unfamiliar works in a new light.
Baritone Peter Brathwaite invites us to listen to some of his personal discoveries - from a melancholic Romanian Doina he first heard while working on a show at the Royal Opera House, to Warlock鈥檚 Bethlehem Down which he recorded during his gap year.
He also finds unusual sonorities in Jessie Montgomery鈥檚 piece 鈥榃oods鈥� as a violin and a bass are hit and plucked to create a creaking treescape, and enjoys voices ranging from the silvery tones of Iestyn Davies to the masterful portrayal of multiple characters in one short song performed by Willard White.
Plus, he celebrates the Metropolitan Opera debut of Marian Anderson, the first black singer to perform there.
